Moraea crossed with a Homeria

Hi, gang.

Those of you who don't like hybrids, close your eyes.

I wanted to report an interesting result with one of my Moraea hybrid
experiments: I've crossed a Moraea villosa and a Homeria.

I didn't think that was possible because they are not all that closely
related (Homeria was formerly its own genus, and was fairly recently merged
into Moraea). Most of my experiments ended up not setting seeds, or were
clones of the Homerias. So I had given up.

Then last weekend a couple of new flowers opened, and they were definitely
hybrids. They combine a yellow flower and a purple one, which makes brown.
So I wouldn't call these flowers beautiful. But they're very interesting,
know what I mean?
