Hi Jude,
Dormant?  I thought they are going to bloom in winter.  (Actually it is spring here.  We do not have winter here.)
I live in Southern California.  Many plants from Mediterranean basin and South Africa are growing season here, and 
ready to bloom.    I found yellow flower buds of Tulipa sylvestris.  Heirloom irises are in bloom.  Some daffodils are in bloom.
