Beware alternate pest treatments. Over time the chemicals can build up in
the potting media and kill your plant. For example, a home made spray for
mealies on orchids resulted in the almost death of same. It was brought
back to life after long water purging over several months and re-potting.

The spray was some isopropyl, Murphy's soap and water. The isopropyl is
toxic to plants. I am currently using it on a Hippeastrum calyptratum as a
dauber with careful sponging later.
