Lovely Patricia Short has for many years been the Secretary of one of the big plant societies. Patricia stores for the winter all her dormant tender bulbs in cardboard boxes under the guest bedroom's bed. This way they are not visible, temperatures are rasonable and by early potting everything goes well. She keeps the pots with mix and labels for each dug variety outdoors for the winter so it is just a matter of lifting bulbs in late autumn and potting them in spring. Winter growing SA can tolerate low temperatures but they are far from liking them. Hence their success at Irvine.
