Martin asked how much cold Rhodophiala montana seedlings can take. Mature plants of this species overwinter under snow, where the temperature is probably quite moderate, and grow after snowmelt. I suggest keeping all Rhodophiala seedlings frost-free. I have them under lights in my garage, as Martin does, but if we have a severe cold period I will cover all the plants in there with a microfoam blanket. David mentioned that there were daffodils flowering in England now. I haven't seen any actual "daffodils" here in Oregon, but Narcissus cantabricus and its hybrids are beginning to open.
