Cynthia: Stephen Haw doesn't mention stem bulbils on L. brownii. He does say that the bulb has a high starch content is commonly eaten. I don't think my L. brownii var. viridulum produces bulbils. However, you can sometimes induce a plant to produce bulbils by cutting off the top of the stem where the buds are.
