When I lived in Illinois, this plant was regularly passed around to rock gardeners who divided it as it was going dormant in late spring. The plant seemed very amenable to regular division. Good seed was never set on the form that was in cultivation in the Midwest. I believe that Far Reaches Farm, Port Townsend WA, has unusual forms of Adonis available from time to time.
