Ants in pots

Do not tolerate an ant colony in a pot of bulbs, especially if the soil
is sandy. The ants will remove the soil to such an extent that the roots
lose contact with it and can't absorb moisture and nutrients. I've lost
plants in both pots and the open garden because of this.

Besides, when you repot the bulbs, the ants will swarm out and sting you!
