Lycoris (was Amaryllis belladonna)

There are no Amaryllis belladonna blooming in my hot and humid North Carolina garden, for obvious reasons, but the Lycoris have been putting in a good show. L. longituba, L. squamigera, and the early L. radiata var. radiata are already finished. This weekend, L. ‘Satsumhiryu’ bloomed with fairly large, intense red/purple flowers with blue highlights (see photo). I like it.
