Ancient multiheaded tulips

Hi,

We got an email asking for the identity of a tulip plant in a c. 1650 
Indian painting. The unusual thing is that the tulip is multi-headed, 
and the person asking the question wondered if this was real.

He thought the species was Tulipa linfolia.

The photo is below scrubbed below. Anyone like to offer an id?
