I tried to grow Gladiolus flanaganii in pots for several years here in north Italy but I never succeeded. I planted the bulbs in a very well drained soil watering moderately during the summer and keeping the bulbs dry during the winter. Immediately after the purchase towards the summer the bulbs put the leaves and they bloomed, but immediately after the leaves turned yellow and dried and the bulbs died. I cannot understand the reason for this failure. Does anyone have positive experiences with this species of Gladiolus? Thanks.
