A Different Sauromatum

I have Sauromatum guttatum, which has an attractive pedatisect leaf. I
used to dig for the winter, storing dry in a shallow box in the
basement. But have discovered that here in New Jersey they winter over
just fine when left in the garden. They are well into growth by now in
all the places where they were planted - semi- to less shady. They make
offsets, so are developing colonies.

When stored in the basement they would often flower before planting out.
Now - I'm not sure if / when they flower as the spathe arises so close
to the ground and there is a lot going on at that (earlier) time of
year. When they were flowering indoors and hurriedly planted out I would
end up with seed heads.

Pictures attached. David, you are welcome to add to the Wiki if you
would like.

A different aroid "cousin" - for years I had Dracunculus in a certain
garden location. Grew and flowered every year. Then, just a few years
ago, it vanished. Upsetting, but these things do happen. This year a
large native viburnum partially uprooted and toppled over. Could not
resurrect it. Thought I would chop it up when I got to it but lo and
behold - it leaved out, flowered, is now making seed. Clearly alive. So
I was lopping branches to give it a nicer shape only to discover I was
standing on a couple of small dracunculus! Levitated off and told them I
was glad to see them! Mysterious and wonderful is the world of plants.

Third and last - Japanese beetles are, for the first time I can recall,
nibbling on the leaf of a large potted amorphophallus. Anyone else seen
this?
