Mexican garden question

Yes, in Massachusetts I spend time on my knees praying that things will
grow. Here in Mexico, the machete is the only answer. The basic rules
seem to be the same, though: drainage, and if it grows well in your
neighbor's garden, it will grow in yours. You can't imagine how many
years it took me to realize it was about that simple. Of course, I'm not
trying to make Chlidanthus or Typhonium flower. Shy performers here are
probably eaten by the heliconias or by the leafcutter ants.
