tree dahlias

Wow. Coincidentally, my wife and I just returned from a garden tour in
beautiful New Zealand. I've sent a note to Dr. Hammett, but do you think
the hybrid tree dahlias would do well here in hot and muggy North Carolina
(USDA Zone 7a) where the temperature very seldom goes below 0 degrees
Fahrenheit? I am also interested in any other plants he might have, but I
don't know where to start. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks,
Ken Traynham
