Delayed ripening may be characteristic of Mediterranean aroids: I've never seen fruit on my Arum pictum, but Biarum tenuifolium doesn't ripen until early summer from flowering in September. And it's true of most other autumn-flowering Mediterranean bulbs, Crocus, Colchicum, Sternbergia etc (though not Narcissus).
