Dear members of the PBS, The Board of Directors have listened to your concerns about the BX and after this weekend's meeting, we have came up with some resolutions: Albert Stella, BX Director, indicated that he can no longer handle the immense work load associated with the BX due to a new job. As we think back, for a few years now, even prior to Albert's appointment, we have not had stable BX offerings. It was difficult to find helpers, and those who stepped up to help had this pesky thing we call life get in the way. It was my hope that a new BX Director who is dedicated and full of energy can stably provide our members with regular offerings that we used to enjoy. Alas it was not so. As of Sunday, Oct. 16, the Board of Directors have confirmed Albert's resignation as BX Director. This leaves the PBS without a BX Director. The Board is currently in search of a new BX Director, along with a number of helpers. We are actively seeking a new model of operation for the BX, so that one person does not have to deal with all the responsibility. The Board recognizes that it was our over-reliant on the model that had worked fantastically over the years. Well call that model Dell Sherk. We still don't know exactly what the new model will look like, but we know that we will need a number of volunteers who work together to make this happen. If you have suggestions, please send them to me or discuss them here on the List. A couple of you have already indicated your willingness to help, but we need more to be successful. Please, consider volunteering to make this essential function of the PBS work. As with all societies, we need our members to be active for the society to stay healthy and engaging. Jane McGary and other members of NARGS have graciously volunteered to distribute the backlog of bulb and seed material. I will work with Jane to make sure that backlog material will be offered in the near future. For now, please continue collecting seeds and bulbs and when we have a new BX Director, we will again take donations. Thank you all for your contributions, past, current, and future to the PBS.
