eliminating Spanish bluebells

I took have pernicious Hyacinthoides bulbs under my rhodies, and like Diane I pull the tops off every year and dig them up when I can. Under established rhodies, my method is to annoy one half of the rhodieā€™s root mass each year, digging underneath it and pulling out bulbs by feel. Then I amend that half, or third, with mulch and compost, and the next year, work on another section. I have reduced its numbers in general, and in some areas, eliminated this target bulb in its entirety.
In years that are too wet to dig during flowering, I have to be content with pulling off all top material. This is a dry year, so I have bags of bulbs heading for the trash, never the compost pile.
