Oxalis hirta

Oxalis hirta is one of my favorite fall flowering Oxalis. It often
starts flowering in September and continues into October and  has been
known to still be flowering on occasion in November. At the moment I
have quite a number of extra bulbs that are already starting to shoot so
I don't want to send them to the BX as they should be planted soon. So I
am happy to give them away to people in the United States. There are a
couple of catches however. First you have to request them to me
privately at mailto:msittner@mcn.org and include your mailing address.
The second catch is you might also receive some unidentified Oxalis as a
bonus. I think they too are hirta, but I forgot to mark them and the
bulbs of Oxalis flava are similar. I suppose I could send them to the BX
as they haven't started into growth, but I don't know how much demand
there might be for unnamed Oxalis bulbs. I've never tried growing Oxalis
hirta in the ground in my coastal Northern California location fearing
they might be invasive. They probably aren't hardy in colder climates
and in one very wet year before I moved them out of the rain when I
unpotted I only had a few small ones.Since the cost is minimal, they
could be grown as annuals and enjoyed for one season. These extras are
the result of being grown in a  couple of community pots in raised beds.
When I decided to repot them this year after a few years there had
multiplied a lot so that is a caution.
