Hyacinthoides lingulata already has roots and shoots

Hyacinthoides lingulata comes in two subspecies, the type and ssp.
ciliolata. I have both and find that they flower at slightly different
times, and I think ssp. ciliolata is a bit more cold-hardy. I grow both
in an unheated greenhouse. This is a little plant, very good in a pot,
but in Santa Barbara where Gastil lives it would be a good garden
subject too. The flowering stems lengthen as they mature. The foliage
stays green through winter, but if it freezes off, the bulbs generally
survive. The blue color is very pretty.
