I will rationalize that this is a way to identify who is helping themselves to your prized bulbs or vegetables. As back story, it all started when I noticed that something was nibbling off the plumes of my plume-type celosia and using them as what appeared to be partially hidden bedding. Then there were the tomatoes being chomped into at night (I always thought it was squirrels but it turned out to be one or more opossums which I was able to stop by using 24” high chicken wire).
