Have to back to the expert.
Duncan:
" Superficially the flowers of L. vanzyliae resemble those of the much earlier flowering L. viridiflora, which differs mainly in its spreading to suberect perianth with much less shorter outer (7-9 mm long) and inner tepals ( 10-13 mm long), with the outer tepals uniformly greenish-turquoise to bright turquoise."

I think the timing of flowering is a much easier way to distinguish the two.

My Lachenalia viridiflora is blooming now, too, with plain green leaves.

I decided to check the PBS Wiki to see whether it shows viridiflora with spotted leaves. It doesn’t, but there is another almost-turquoise species on the same page, Lachenalia vanzyliae, and it has spotted leaves.
