Herbicides

I have used a weed burner. I used it in Alaska to thaw out the engine of 
my pickup truck (no, you don't shoot the flames directly onto the 
engine! That would be known as the Toyota Torch).

I don't use one in my garden now, though I have one, because I don't 
want to bother hauling around the gas tank. However, it probably would 
be a good choice as a mechanical weeder, as long as the substrate was 
gravel that wouldn't catch fire. Like Jan, I doubt it would kill a 
dandelion. The "pop weed" Jan mentions is widely known as "cress." My 
garden is carpeted in it at the moment, and wet as a swamp. It will take 
be about 3 weeks to get it under control if it ever stops raining. It is 
impossible to hire anyone to do a job like that.
