Can I start these seeds now?

Nan, which hemisphere do you live in? If the Northern, I would sow the
Ixia now but wait until September to sow the others.

It's always good to mention where one is gardening to give more
perspective on our international forum.

As for seed sowing medium, different people have their favorites, often
depending on what is available in their local area. Mine is a mixture of
coarse sand (metamorphic and igneous origin), ground pumice, and a
little fine peat. I use a weak fertilizer solution on the pots while the
seedlings are in growth, since there is little nutrition in that mix. I
think the sand is important because it doesn't dry out quickly and risk
killing the tiny seedlings.
