Those soon-to-be magnificent stems of Lilium humboldtii Ken photographed were, except for the foliage, mirror images of stems of Lilium superbum I saw in a Maryland garden earlier this week. Lilium superbum typically is in bloom on July 4 here in the greater Washington, D.C.area, and the stems I saw seemed to be right on schedule. I'm 5'10", and I was looking up to see the top-most buds.
