Streptolirion

Hello Joseph,

Your question about Streptolirion sounds very interesting. I have never
heard of this plant so I tried to find more infos.

There is a nursery in the south of France who sell it. Here is the link,
they state that they speak English.

http://pepiniereezavin.com/boutique/

Their email is olivier.ezavin@sfr.fr

They describe the plant as being very vigorous, sprouting in spring,
growing fast and disappearing in winter. So I suppose it has a storage
organ, they do not refer to it as an annual. Maybe a storage organ
similar to other Commelinaceae? Fleshy roots?

They recommend to protect the site where Streptolirion is planted during
winter and rate it hardy in zone 8. They also say that if grown under
glass it does not go dormant. Does that help?

Are you sure your plant has not just simply gone dormant in its pot and
is resprouting now? Have you tipped the "dead" plant out of its pot to
see what is in the rootball?

Bye for now

Uli
