Our friend lives in the western San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, so hot dry summers and relatively cold winters. They do not bloom regularly, I am guessing about once every 4-5 years. That part of the yard does not get any sun until 10-11 or so, then it gets full sun the rest of the day.
