Transplanting Colchicums

Hi Judy,This may sound counterintuitive but I would move them now while they're in full bloom, and not wait until after the blooms have faded.  Root development begins during or just after flowers come up, so if you wait there will actually be more of a risk of root damage than if you do it right now.  Actually I'm pretty careless in moving them.  I frequently dig fully flowering clumps from bone dry soil and then replant into similarly dry soil without even bothering to water.  Now I'm not saying this is good advice but it doesn't seem to bother them.Frank in nepahttps://katob427.com/
