Good Morning, As I've told some of you who asked, the PBS Board has been working on the possibility of going to a forum format on the internet similar to that of the Scottish Rock Garden Club, and eventually doing away with the Discussion List, which is based on email usage. The Board is continuing to investigate the best forum software for our uses, how we want it to work and how to phase it in. We are fully aware that for us PBS members this would be a major transition and a big learning curve, so when we make this transition, it has to be as workable and glitch-free as possible. We are moving slowly but steadily in that direction. But here are some things that will NOT go away. Our website hosts archives and a bulb encyclopedia; these will not go away. Members and non-members of the List will be able to participate in the forum. We will have a method for notifying everyone about seed and bulb exchanges, lots of one-on-one help (email addresses and phone numbers to contact helpers), and we also hope this will eliminate the dropped/never received emails folks complain about. You will have to deliberately go to the forum, rather than automatically receive emails, but that can be made simple by using a couple different options and we'll show you how. Oh yes, just so you know, this forum is NOT FaceBook or similar social media. We do not and will not collect personal information of any kind whatever. At some point in the next 4-6 weeks, we will announce a test version so that all members can try it out, and give us feedback about what they like, don't like, and what works or doesn't work. Until then, please have patience and allow us the time to try our best to get it right. We have highly experienced computer techs, moderators and designers working with us and these folks are generously donating their time to achieve this goal. We think it far more important to take our time and get it right than to rush out and blow everyone away with a half-functioning forum. Stay tuned!
