One of our members in the TX Hill Country generously sent me a big box of Zephyranthes species and hybrids - plenty to share with others here who never heard of them and/or didn't think they would be hardy!  I potted everything up to get them established and plan to move some into my own garden.
With all the recent rain, all the pots of Z. Grandjax have been blooming profusely (a mediocre photo is attached).
Meanwhile, I read that Z. candida likes a lot of moisture and can be grown as an aquatic.  So I placed a pot in with my Sarracenias - sitting on a paver with about the bottom inch or less of the pot actually in the water.  They grew well and one is blooming now (the second photo).  I have been convinced by our various veteran growers that this genus is hardy here - in the ground - but if someone has experience on whether the one sitting in a pot in the pond will also be hardy, I'm all ears.  It's obviously less protected than one actually buried in the soil.  If necessary, I can easily move the pot to a spot where I keep extra potted Eucomis buried in straw for the winter.
Bob   E Tenn  hoping for some dry weather so I can start digging the iris
