Iris histrioides/A. belladonna

I grow I. histrioides in fairly normal woodsy/clay soil in E. Tenn.  It gets summer shade from a dogwood tree and does fine, blooming reliably and seeming to multiply.  If I had to guess, comparing your situation to mine, maybe you're giving it too much sun?
