New Year's flower Count

Well, here in southern Germany I can offer a single Cyclamen coum in 
flower, and some buds on Kniphofia sarmentosa and Gymnospermium albertii 
- it might be better with very few things sticking their heads out as at 
least some forecasts think we should get a true winter in Germany this 
season - honestly, I could do without.

It's the time of the year I get angry with the forecasters going on 
about "hope for  the friends of winter weather". I'm still trying to 
figure out what's to like about it... The costs for heating? The 
accidents on slippery streets? Who knows...
