Sinningia tubliflora

Sinningia tubiflora grows and flowers well in a large pot here in the low desert in full heat and full sun all day. It is not harmed in the least by full sun with temperatures to 118 F / 48C. It needs plenty of water when in leaf. I've heard from many people who have reported trouble flowering it in smaller containers, or in other than full sun. Often I can't convince people to try a larger pot, plus full sun.

I haven't tried it in the ground because my soil isn't soil, its fist-sized rocks separated by dust. I don't want to put it into a raised bed for fear of it taking over.

Of interest, years ago Alberto Castillo in Argentina wrote to me that the species forms a solitary tuber in habitat. This has not been my experience, nor that of others. Here it forms very numerous tubers almost to the size of small hen's eggs.
