I wonder if one could modify the sandbox to include bottom heat. Just a wild idea with the caveat that I have never tried to grow this item! But getting things to grow and bloom in Zones/countries they were never intended for is a fun challenge; maybe you'll kill it, but if it's been taking up your time and space for years and never blooming, what do you have to lose?
