Our camp always used to take along a large potted banana tree or two to sit in front of the tent and which we used for depositing our grey water. One year we fell afoul of a new rule against non-native plants. Effectively there are no native plants. It is a high, cold, saline dust desert. The officer kept assuring us that banana seeds would escape and form a banana forest. (In Nevada? Seeds?) My daughter explained that were anything to be able to grow there, there would be a huge marijuana forest already. She somehow convinced him to let us keep the banana. I loved the boophone picture. Papyrus makes a similar but green plant structure.
