In my experience Haemanthus albiflos is evergreen and easy. It Does not require much attention. I leave the pots under a tree or under an overhang in warm weather and on the garage floor in cold weather. You high humus mix sounds fine.
Water when they look limp, do not water often. At least that is what i do and the flower and make seed every August.

Mine are molting now, old leaves are yellowing, new leaves forming.
