Greetings,

We had a very successful spring foray this weekend with a hardy group of PBS members. Starting in the City of SLO and ending on the coast north of San Simeon, we managed to see 6 species of Calochortus (albus, clavatus, luteus, obispoensis, splendens and venustus) on the trip as well as 5 other geophytes (Allium, Brodiaea,Triteleia, Fritilaria and Chlorogalum sp).

Although others on the tour took many photos, I took only 1 photo - of Calochortus splendens. I was not expecting splendens to appear on the tour but I found it unexpectedly on the Saturday pre-tour whilst traveling between potential stops. The dry year was not kind to populations of C. simulans, so the C. splendens was a welcome substitute.

Thanks to all attended the tour! We'll have to do it again sometime...
