Libertia sessiliflora (note spelling) should germinate readily if sown in moderately cool temperatures in fall. I haven't seen its seeds, but if they are relatively large, they might benefit from mild scarification as some irids do, and/or from the soaking recommended below to remove germination inhibitors. It is probably not winter-hardy outdoors in western Oregon, where Marc lives. In nature in central coastal Chile, I have seen it growing on steep slopes in moist stream canyons, amid dense vegetation and near such moisture lovers as Gunnera. The flowers are a rather strange shade of blue. Here is cultivation advice (my transl.) from Riedemann & Aldunate's invaluable /FLora nativa de valor ornamental/: "It is propagated from seed, stratified [exposed to moist chilling] in autumn or normally in spring, in a soil mix of one part compost, one of sand, and half garden soil, after being soaked for 24 hours before [sowing] [that's a common trick with irid seed]. Transplant into pots when seedlings are approximately 3 cm tall. It can also be multiplied by division of the clumps, separating the rhizomes in autumn, but not too frequently, only every three years, so that it can recuperate after division." They also list its requirements as low light (i.e., part shade), high moisture, and deep soil rich in organic matter, recommending it for shady gardens near water features.
