I had a problem w stem rot on a pollinated Hipp and I cut the stem as far down as I could while cutting through completely clean tissue and then put the stem in a vase of water. The pods continued to develop. If necessary, I would cut off more of the bottom of the stem for better water uptake as the pod matured and the cut stem looked worn. I can easily see how that process could really benefit from a dab of that systemic fungicide in the water. It sure couldn't hurt!
