Seed Exchange 12 will be open for orders within the next week. The exact date will be determined by how much longer it takes me to finish putting labels on all those seed packets! This is a big seed exchange with over 200 items. I plan to allow five days to order so people have time to research the offerings.

Why is this Seed Exchange 12 you may ask. Years ago the SX and BX were split and had their own numbers. Then they were combined under one number. Now they are split again and initially were using almost identical numbers. This is confusing for everyone so we’ve decided Seed Exchange numbers will pick up where they left off. Hence this is SX 12.

Here are some highlights from SX 12.

We have fifteen different ariseama selections, most submitted by Charles Hunter. Charles is still waiting for some of the seed to ripe and will send it to me as soon as it’s ripe. You’ll be able to order now and I’ll either hold your order until the seeds come in or, if you want to pay an extra shipping charge, send the arisaemas separately.

Eighteen different calochortus are on offer, most of them submitted by Jim Barton.

Some of you have finally received the Saunder’s gladiolus book and are probably lusting after some gladiolus seed. We’re offering twenty eight species for your growing pleasure.

A note about genetic purity. Some of our donors have large collections of the same genus. Unless the seed is listed as hand pollinated you should be aware that hybridization is possible.

And before you ask, no I won’t tell you if the seed exchange is offering a certain species before I release the list. As hard as it is you’ll just have to wait.
