Virus Contaminated Soil

Dear PBS Members,

I’ve finally had to acknowledge that many pots both of lilies and freesias have been contaminated by leaf viruses probably brought in from a commercial grower. I know that the most likely viruses are spread through multiple means, all plant parts, soil and mechanical equipment.

How best should I get rid of both the plants but especially the soil they’ve been growing in? I don’t want to spread the virused material but unloading pots and pots of soil in a safe manner seems to have no viable solution.

Thank you in advance for any advice or suggestions.
