Thanks to the 38 people who have posted comments so far on my post about the possibility of making the Bulb Garden newsletter online only. We have 36 in favor, one against, and one ambivalent. I don't have enough data yet to prepare a review of the comments and answers to concerns and suggestions, but I wanted to mention a few. We are currently envisioning the online BG as a downloadable pdf, which could be printed out for readers who don't like reading on screens. One responder pointed out that the format should be readable on a phone, which hadn't occurred to me since I almost never read anything but text messages that way, so I don't know how the photo quality would be. We have not discussed whether the online BG would be immediately available to non-members; opinion on this varies among board members. Reducing the cost of publishing the newsletter would allow the PBS to redirect funds to exchange-related projects, such as the popular group bulb orders. I'd hope to see group seed orders too. We would like to broaden the benefit of group orders to members who don't limit their interest to Southern Hemisphere plants. More to follow!
