Interestingly, the general lore is that Hipps hardly ever successfully breed with other genera, with the exception of Sprekelia. So it is kind of cool that Hippestrelias seem to be more fertile and forgiving. I have two cultivars of the Howardara and one blooms profusely most of the summer but thus far hasn't yielded any pods. I have what I hope is a Hipp X Nerine seedling - a single seed that we germinated via embryo rescue. It's a big plant and I hope it blooms this summer and doesn't turn out to be a selfing or clone of the red WalMart "amaryllis" seed parent. That would be a bummer after 4 or 5 years of waiting.
