Hello all- A quick update on SX21: the list will go out on *Monday*, close *midweek*, and packages will be sent *Friday* — so keep an eye out for the list! I received seeds from Mary Sue on 9/23 and have attached a picture showing a portion of the goodies that will be available. In the interim, a few Haemanthus humilis were expected to arrive, along with another package posted on 9/29 (arriving today) containing items that will need to be dispersed quickly. https://servimg.com/view/19553874/17/ The U.S. SX is the smallest time commitment compared to the BX and EU offerings. Each time I prepare for an SX, my efficiency improves. Excluding communications and list preparation, it takes about eight hours from the close of the SX to attaching the final mailing label. I try to combine received packages when possible — it helps reduce postage costs for members and saves me some time. I wanted to provide that context to explain how scheduling dates may shift slightly. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Mary Sue Ittner <msittner@mcn.org> Date: Fri, Oct 3, 2025 at 5:52 PM Subject: Re: seeds To: Shoal Creek Succulents <scsnursery1@gmail.com> Last year you never offered the last seed you said it was not too late to send. This year you promised to offer my recalcitrant seed when you got it, but changed your mind. I have been very disappointed as you seemed so interested in this job. I realize a lot of organizations only offer seed once a year which means that a lot of it won't be viable and won't be started at the correct time. In the past PBS was different and that was a wonderful benefit. If you wait until everyone sends seed, since seed ripens at different times, I expect it is easier for you. In some cases that is at the expense of successful germination. It really doesn't matter what I think as I am sure a lot of people are thrilled there is someone willing to do the job. The solution for me I believe is to stop sending seed and then I won't care what happens to it. It will save me a lot of time. As often happens, just as I prepare to announce an SX offering, more people contact me with additional seed they’d like to send. I do try to combine them when possible. The next list should be out around mid-week. The seed you sent have formed radicles, which in my experience is not a problem—I just wanted to give you an update. Second, I’d like to understand the basis for your feeling that I “checked out” on the seed exchange. Aside from a one-time event, I don’t believe my performance has been lacking, so I’d appreciate clarification on why you feel it hasn’t met expectations.
