Narcissus Division Ten

This page contains pictures and information about Narcissus classified under Division 10: Bulbocodium. Narcissus in this division resemble N. bulbocodium and its relatives. They usually have one flower to a stem. The perianth segments (petals) are insignificant compared to the corona (cup).

Narcissus 'Golden Bells' is a very floriferous Hoop Petticoat that blooms mid-season. Photographs taken March 2007 by Jay Yourch. The leaves are not like most Narcissus being almost round. 'Golden Bells' dry bulbs often have leaves growing when supplied in early Fall. The leaves will grow through winter, again unlike most species. It is generally thought to be a selection of Narcissus bulbocodium ssp. bulbocodium var. conspicuus and was introduced in the late 1990s.

Photographs of bulbs, foliage and seed pod with seeds on a 10 mm grid by David Pilling. The seeds in the photo were sown after harvest in June and threw up their first leaves at the beginning of October. Once again this is different to many species of Narcissus.
