Narcissus 'King Alfred'. This was the first of the large trumpet daffodils, bred in the 19th. century in England by John Kendall. It was registed with the RHS in 1899 after his death. The idea and the name have proved more long lived than the original bulbs, newer cultivars being sold under the old name. More information can be found here in a PBS list discussion.
