Babiana species I bought for my mother in the Central Valley of California years ago grew all too enthusiastically, but they died when I transplanted some to my garden in northwestern Oregon. Presently I grow three species in the bulb frame; B. disticha flourishes best there. It's apparently just a bit too cold for them outdoors here in the foothills of the Cascades.
