Hello Mary Sue and Members,

I hope my intent and thoughts are not seen as anything other than ideas
that steps I think we can take over time. There is not a burning desire
to overturn 20 years of PBS. On the contrary , I firmly believe in the
system. I think all the things we do are good. There were reasons that the
group is organized as it is? Are they all still valid? I don’t know? What
I do know is the things I’ve learned and members that I talk to on a
regular basis have transformed my interests in plants.

I have PBS members to thank for that. Do I want PBS to grow and improve
yes, as all of us should. I am one person who wanted an engaging
conversation on what can be. The key though is making sure we evolve. I
have never thought we should start from scratch.

I think some may recall when the discussion on what next after the list
made sense…I shared our most valuable asset is the information we share
“matter of factly” each day. Cataloging and organizing it was what I
thought and still believe is important. So tearing down what we have built
is not my intent. There are areas we need to improve and I hope the next
set of managers finds some of my concerns of merit. However that’s my view
and there are 200 + others.

I have much respect for those who built the group, by the same token I look
for the processes built into the system to allow for change.

So my apologies to those who may have felt anything other than the passion
of a member who thinks the world of PBS.

It’s my hope that over time some of my ideas can be tweaked and worked
along with the ideas of other members into actionable proposals.

Everyone has a voice that has equal merit,

Mike
