Bulb collection destroyed

Though living in the City of Los Angeles, I'm fortunate to have several mature oaks in my yard and my neighbor's yards, and we're close enough to the mountains to get more wildlife than you would expect for a major city. There are many different birds, including the hawks and owls mentioned. I actually had a bobcat once, and watched in fascination as it stalked the neighborhood squirrels (guess who I was rooting for) who were all watching it intently with two ravens squawking their two cents in the showdown. My yard is planted entirely with California native plants, with the bulb collection in pots and now the raised bed, so I've been moderately successful in attracting wildlife.
I forgot to mention that I topped the raised bed with nursery flats and then a layer of small decorative stones. As someone suggested, the stones might deter some critters and then the buried flats stymie anyone that does try to dig (I've only had evidence of this once). All in all, the raised bed was a great idea.
