And today I have what looks what will be the last of my calochortus to bloom this year, though there are still several buds yet to open on my C. luteus plants.  Calochortus vestae opened this morning on a long, nearly 50cm stem.  

I was happy to see that both forms of C. superbus I have are forming seed pods which I will be watching very closely.

I had really good germination this year, and more to plant next year.  Once they have a couple of year's growth and I repot I will send you some.

For many it is the first time they have bloomed.  I have noticed that for some, such as Ixia paniculata, they are much more robust and the flowers are much larger than when they were when grown in Seattle.  The climate here is much more to their liking.

Calochortus luteus blooming today in Armilla, Spain.

Just opened on our terraza today.  I believe I got this one from Telos Rare Bulbs.  It is the first time it has bloomed for me.

Two forms of Calochortus subperbus blooming on May Day in a pot on my terraza.  I am not sure if they were from the same seed lot as I combined some when I moved to Spain to conserve space.  I like the contrast and will probably leave them together when I do my fall repotting.

I second the Crocus society and have been participating in the exchange for a couple of years now.  Always an interesting list though names are not always up to date from the donors.  It is a good place to start.

I am trying to find a list of the offerings from BX 471.  The forum seems to have a gap from 463 through 478.  The search function brings up BX 482 when I enter 471.  If anyone can send a link to the list it would be much appreciated.

Cleese has had his moments for sure. He had a very funny TV show called Fawlty Towers that was well done and highly enjoyable. Much of the humor would not make it on regular American TV at the time. I think it was shown on the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS).

Another great English favorite was Are You Being Served.  It had no connection to the Monty Python gang, but it was very funny and entertaining. 

Finally, there was a series called The Irish Resident Magistrate on PBS that was very worthwhile.

Loved all of these, and many more from the good old days of British humor.  I would add "To the Manor Born". "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin", the "Black Adder" series and so many more.  We brought many of these on DVD with us when we moved to Spain from the US, with our region free EU DVD player not being sure how accessible some might be.  We did not realize our DVD player was an EU model until we unplugged it when we moved and found it had an adapter for the US.  Got lucky when I bought it before we ever contemplated the move as it automatically detects input current and output format.

Ondine is usually very good at replying as soon as she can.  Sometimes she is just overwhelmed.  

Closing for holidays is often very different in other parts of the world.  Don't expect anything to happen in August in Spain and a fair part of Europe, and December/early January here is packed with holidays and long closures.  Even my wife's quarterly self employment tax submission deadline is later than normal for the fourth quarter as they factor in the fact that no one is working.  It is actually a pleasant change, one just has to accept it and get used to it.

Now blooming on our patio in Armilla, Spain.  Originally acquired as a single bulb from Telos Rare Bulbs, this divided during growth in 2021.  This is the first time it has flowered for me.

I had a former landscaper friend who had planted over 10,000 daffodil bulbs in a clients yard.  The client called to complain that most of the daffodils hadn't come up.  He went by and looked over the fence and found a gopher had moved most of the bulbs, the hillside below their fence was a field of daffodils.
