Martin Philippo, who has an interesting website on Muscari, is correct when
he writes,>The yellow you
>mentioned is not a rim but anthers sticking out. They look lovely indeed but
>these are not rims as found in many Muscaris.
I thought the yellow was just the anthers but because my reference books
mentioned a "yellow rim" I thought I must be wrong! In fact my "old"
Bellevalia pycnantha are completely blue.

I suspect he Dutch bulbs bought as B. pycnantha are either some other
species or a hybrid. Martin, do you know if Bellevalia ever hybridizes with
Muscari?
